Nidwalden, Switzerland

The Barrier lake on Bannalp is on 1586m above sea level. It is accessible by cable car or by hiking the Walenpfad from Wolfenschiessen to Engelberg. On the path lies the Alp Oberfeld, an organic alpage farm with restaurant and a small dormitory. The farm has mountain goats (for goat trekking), cows and the rare turopolje pigs. The farm and the Walenpfad are open during summer.
